In the framework of the European project “INNOVAGRO” – Development of an innovative network for the promotion of extroversion of agro-food companies in Adriatic- Ionian Area, in which the Region of Crete is a partner, the Transnational Extroversion Event was held in Chania on Saturday, 3/10/2020, 11:00 – 19:00 in the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh).

In the event participated – among others – Mr. Kiriakos Kotsoglou, Commissioner for Tourism from the Region of Crete and Mr. Antonis Rokakis, President of the Chania Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is the leader partner. Good practices concerning the commercial exploitation of research results that are connected to the agrofood sector were presented as well as an exhibition, in which innovative business ideas were promoted, was held.

Moreover, a Transnational Contest on the innovative business excellence in the agro-food sector was organized (INNOVAGRO AWARDS) with participants from Greek and foreign businesses of the agro-food sector. The winner of the contest was Mrs. Erica Gioahin (Fermantarnica) from Slovenia with her idea about handmade vegan cheese made with the finest organic cashew nuts. In the second place, there was a tie between Mrs. Dimitra Houhoula (Μilkygon) with a dairy product in powder form in a biodegradable package and Mrs. Eleni Doudounaki (The Family Farm) from Chania, who makes local delicacies with biological products by using innovative ideas.

The European project “INNOVAGRO”- Development of an innovative network for the promotion of extroversion of agro-food companies in Adriatic- Ionian Area aims at the development of links and synergies between farmers, agro-food enterprises, Research Institutes and Public Authorities for the promotion of agro-food products’ extroversion, the development of agro-food companies’ internalization and the promotion of environmentally – friendly farming practices.
